A condominium bathroom is usually served by one outlet at a time, wall space is limited, and units are generally on mains pressure, which is what an instant heater needs. A storage heater is the better choice in a condominium only where two bathrooms run concurrently or where a bathtub is fitted, and where there is somewhere to site the tank. No. An instant water heater heats water as it flows through, so its output is limited to what it can heat at that moment — it serves one outlet at a time. Opening a second outlet splits the flow and both run cooler. If two bathrooms are used simultaneously, either fit a second instant unit at the second bathroom, or fit a storage heater sized to cover both. This is the most common reason Malaysian homes with two bathrooms choose storage.

The two draw power differently rather than one simply using more. An instant heater draws a high load for the minutes the tap is running and nothing at all in between. A storage heater draws a lower load, but does so periodically through the day to hold the tank at temperature.
